We recommend doing this as sometimes the existing label has a tendency show through depending on the color or texture of the existing label, but it is not required.
Select and gather your full wine or champagne bottles.
In a sink, pot or pan fill with room temperature water (enough water so all of the existing labels are submerged).
Add 2-4 tablespoons of baking soda to room temperature water.
Add your bottles to the water solution, making sure not to submerge the cork!
Leave the bottles in water solution for 30 minutes to an hour.
Use a razor blade or scraper to remove the existing label and adhesive.
Once the label has been removed, use dish soap to remove any remaining residue and dry before applying new label.
